Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions about flying with Jersey Shore Air Adventures.

Where do you fly?

We fly from Great Bay to Seaside Heights, including Brigantine, Little Egg Harbor, Long Beach Island, and Barnegat, from the Eagles Nest Airport in West Creek, Eagleswood Township, NJ. The areas you see will depend on the length of your tour.

Can we take a camera?

Yes. The only precaution is that you will need a secure wrist or neck strap. Remember, your flight will be like riding in an open convertible at a high speed. If you extend your camera or phone beyond the protection of the windshield, you could lose it in the airstream of the plane.

When do you fly and what are your hours?

Weather permitting, we fly from 9 am to 5:00 pm, every day.

How do I schedule my flight?

All flights are by reservation only. There are two ways to make a reservation: call 609-207-7432 to purchase your flight. 24 hour notice is required. We will do our best to book your tour to fit your schedule.

Can we come see the plane if we're not taking a tour?

Absolutely, we love showing off our amazing aircraft! We welcome bridal parties for photos, and groups such as Boy Scouts that wish to learn about aviation and history. Please contact us so that we can arrange for you to see the plane when we are not scheduled to fly.

What is your cancellation policy?

All bookings require a $50 deposit. Please allow at least 24 hours notice prior to the departure time for cancellations and/or rescheduling. For cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice, the $50 deposit is non-refundable. Management may cancel tours due to weather, airplane availability, and other safety related reasons, holding the deposit until the flight can be rescheduled. Cancellation refunds will be processed within 3 business days.

What is the cost?

All fares are listed below and on the "Tours" page. Our Waco has side-by-side seating up front for two passengers, the pilot rides in the back. There is an intercom system and headsets that allow you, your companion, and the pilot to communicate during the flight.

Tour Packages
 Flight Time 30 Min.40 Min.50 Min.
 One $265$325$385
Two  $295 $365$435

When is full payment due?

Full payment is due before your flight. Please call us at 609-207-7432 with questions.

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We do not accept checks.

What should I wear?

You are welcome to wear anything that's comfortable. On hot days we recommend light clothing such as shorts and tee shirt. The passenger cockpit is warm so you won't need a jacket unless the outside temperature is 50 degrees or less. Sneakers or boat shoes with rubber soles are recommended. You will be stepping up onto the wing of the airplane and sliding into the front cockpit so we suggest clothing that is not restrictive. Remember, an open cockpit plane is windy. You will be protected by a windshield but it will feel like riding in a convertible on the highway. Those with longer hair may want a hair band or scarf. Sunglasses are fine, goggles are not necessary.

Do I need to arrive early for my flight?

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled flight time. Regardless of the length of your in-air tour, each flight is given a 2 hour window so that passengers can take photos, ask questions, and receive a safety briefing. We want you to feel relaxed, not rushed, and the time spent on the ground before your flight is part of the experience. Your early arrival will allow us to stay on schedule.

Are there any age, weight, size or health requirements?

Children below the age of 10 must be accompanied by a parent, older sibling, or adult. Getting into the cockpit of the biplane is more difficult than getting into a car, so if you have a physical disability, climbing into the plane may be challenging. Please advise us and we will make every effort to accommodate you. We will provide a cushion so that passengers under 5 feet or those who can not see over the sides of the cockpit can enjoy a better view. Due to safety restrictions for the aircraft, individuals weighing more than 275 pounds or couples with a combined weight of more than 350 pounds may be refused service.

Is it safe?

Yes, it is safe; your drive to and from the airport will be more dangerous. The aircraft is a fully restored 1942 Waco UPF 7. It is maintained in a manner that meets or exceeds the FAA required annual and 100-hour inspections. The pilot is a commercially rated and has received special training in this particular airplane. We take both your safety and our safety very seriously. At the same time, there is some element of risk with any airplane operation and we will brief you before each flight on safety procedures. Passengers will be required to sign a waiver of liability prior to boarding.

Is it loud?

It is loud without the headset. We provide you with David Clark Aviation Headsets. The Dave Clarks have volume control and the plane has a new push to talk intercom system that allows you to talk to both your pilot and your fellow rider. You will also be able to hear communications with other aircraft in the area.

How fast and how high do you fly?

We normally cruise around 95 miles per hour and we normally fly at a height between 1,000 and 2,500 feet.

We do not do aerobatics. While the biplane is certified for aerobatics, we do not perform aerobatic maneuvers on our flights. Aerobatics requires that you wear parachutes and only one passenger can ride. We believe the thrill of a leisurely flight in our Waco is more than enough excitement for most people.

What if the weather is bad?

We will simply reschedule your flight, sometimes the same day or another day when it's convenient for you. Your $50 deposit will be applied to your rescheduled flight.
